Customer Review: I love reading about explorers through the ages. I am particularly fond of Burton/ Speke/Livinston, etc. in Africa and the polar explorers. This is the first book I've read about South American exploration except for the usual conquest and gold explorers/exploiters. The book opened my eyes to two... more info
Customer Review: I've carried this around for Lord only knows how many years, even though I've depended mainly on portable navigation devices while traveling for the past 9. It is still an acceptable product, but barely. It hasn't changed much in all the years I've had it. Some states have long been in... more info
Customer Review: One may be inclined to think that the waterproof facet of this item is a gimmick, its not. We used this on a two week trip there in August and it was raining almost every day. The map is great, it is not only useful in getting you where you are going, it is useful in finding things to do. There... more info
Customer Review: Frommer's is generally known for producing guides that are up-to-date and reasonably comprehensive. For the most part, this one is no exception to that trend. The book follows their standard format for Frommer's with "Best of" lists detailing some of the top attractions followed by general... more info
Customer Review: This atlas has nice size easy to read maps, helpful city map inserts, spiral binding for ease of keeping a page open. Recommend it highly.
Customer Review: Joe has a taut, spare style of writing. Perhaps the only negative one can point to is that he goes a little too much into techno-speak on mountaineering. However, this is forgivable since that was the audience he was writing for. That the book became a general public bestseller was a surprise. In a... more info
Customer Review: Very good book to read to learn what goes on in the head on Che. He shares his emotions and passion for life and everything that comes along with it. This book is based more on his personal opinions, likes and dislikes. You would get the opportunity to get in his head and read his thoughts. A little... more info
Customer Review: I used to swear by Lonely Planet (LP) Travel Guides, but this one has too many flaws for a solid rating. Yes, the book is nicely compact and practical, with useful information on lodging, local flavor, and getting around - particularly to and from airports and bus stations. I just returned from a... more info
Customer Review: The lonely planet helped as as always to plan our vacation. We spend only one week in this interesting country, but managed to plan an interesting and packed two day trip. Instead of booking through the hotel and spending at least $250 per person we took all the information out of the book. Besides... more info
Customer Review: For a brief (portable) guide it's VERY good. Containes important tips and information regarding bird habitat and habits. Very good illistrations and descriptions with bolded highlights. Good general map/range of territory where birds would be expected to be found.
