Customer Review: Note that Amazon has accidentally loaded this DVD product with reviews of Demura's nunchaku book. Apples and Oranges. I participated in a series of kobudo seminars in which Fumio Demura taught his Kobudo Kihon Kata. Readers will need a little context to understand what is going on here in the... more info
Customer Review: _Sai-Karate_Weapon_of_Self-Defense_, by Fumio Demura, is a very good introductory text for the sai. Sai are a handheld karate weapon that looks like a 18-20 inch metal rod with two side prongs. I started some sai training in my karate class during the last year, and prior to that I had heard mixed... more info
Customer Review: After reading all the previous pro and con comments, I decided to also review this excellent book. As a life-time student of the martial arts with ranks in Jujitsu, Karate, Judo and Kobudo, as well as a follower and student of reality based systems such as Jim Wagner's and Krav Maga, I found this... more info
Customer Review: Musashi said something like: amateurish martial arts are a source of serious injuries. He also said that many schools of martial arts are more decoration than reality. My opinion is that this book covers very little of the serious stuff you need to know in true martial arts.
Customer Review: This is one of my favorite in the Demura Karate Weapons series. The Tonfa is used in most cases, as a pair, one in each hand. Though the Tonfa is not as flashy as other weapons; nevertheless, it has great value for those involved in karate. One of the beautiful things about the Tonfa is that one can... more info

Customer Review: Even though this volume also shows some very basic Nunchaku techniques; nevertheless, it is strongly recommended to first read and study Demura's first book (Nunchaku: Karate Weapon of Self-Defense)on this weapon. Like many martial artists, for a while many years ago I was fasinated with the... more info
Customer Review: The class opened up to gails of laughter at this two by four I was swinging. I didn't know if I looked like a martial artist or a shepherd. I think my sensei would have had more respect for me if I was swinging a loaded bed pan at him. I went ahead and finished the class with this Arkansas death... more info
Customer Review: I participated in a series of kobudo seminars in which Fumio Demura taught his Kobudo Kihon Kata. Readers will need a little context to understand what is going on here. Master Demura decided that kobudo was not being taught intelligently, with too much emphasis on learning just one weapon and... more info
Customer Review: Dr. Hatsumi Sensei brings in a very clear presentation, the ABC of the long stick. But it is not only the photos that are of great value. It is the words that find their place between them, bringing the life wisdom of one of the great leaders of the Martial art world of this era. What is a true... more info
