Customer Review: There was so much hype on this book that I expected more. It is not a bad book but I am sure there must be better ones out there on this subject than this. The info is very general. And seems oddly lacking in places. For instance, the resource section in the back seems random and missing things that... more info
Customer Review: Steve Meyerowitz, a.k.a. Sproutman has been sprouting since the 1970s, and owns a company selling sprouting equipment and seeds. I've read several of his books and chatted with him in person about sprouting. Sproutman knows his stuff, and IMO, anything he writes about sprouting is worth reading. I... more info
Customer Review: The recipes in this book are fun and look like they are easy to make. However, a good number of them have garlic in them. The author makes a point to note on the dangers of onions for dogs, but barely mentions that garlic, which is in the same family as onions, can have the same effect as onions.... more info
Customer Review: I ordered several raw food books, Raw in Ten being one of them. I returned it today after looking through all the books and realizing this is the one I'd rarely use. I had only noticed 5 recipes I might prepare. First, I must say that many recipes sound delicious and different from usual recipes... more info
Customer Review: This is not a bad cookbook, but it is a lot of work to make most of the dishes in it. The recipes are very homey and old fashioned. I also found out that I don't really like the taste of stevia, so that doesn't help either.
Customer Review: I would have given this good book four and a half stars.Yet,there are some difficulties with the book.Number one,you need space to do the projects suggested.Who is going to raise goats in their apartment suite? Also who is going to have a vegetable garden on a roof top?Or who is going to have an... more info
Customer Review: This is a gorgeous book filled with delicious recipes, interesting profiles of organic growers and great local restaurant recommendations. The photographs really capture the beauty and character of the Marin landscape. If you love food, you will love this book! A definite "must have."
Customer Review: This book has a lot of valuable info. It was preaching to the crier a bit for me but still it is always good to have ones views validated. The recipes may be more local in California and New York where getting some of the ingredients is a lot easier, but not necessarily local. Use them as... more info
Customer Review: I'm sure that many Amazon customers have many books and bookcases. I am no exception. I have 3 rows of cookbooks stretching several feet, but The Santa Monica Farmers Cookbook is only neatly shouldered among them occasionally. It is usually in closer proximity to the kitchen. The emphasis is as... more info
Customer Review: CHEFS ON THE FARM chronicles a year at Quillisascut Farm School of the Domestic Arts in Eastern Washington. An "allegory" for any farm this book is for anyone interested in "real" food. Coincidentally I read this book around the same period as I read Michael Pollan's REAL FOOD. One would guess that... more info
