Customer Review: What a wonderful little novel! If you love Italy as I do, you will love this story as it leads you through the day to day life of this interesting and colorful heroine throughout the city of Venice. Diplaced, lonely, living in this city that couldnt be further away from Saint Louis, Missouri in... more info
Customer Review: Rita says at the beginning that she is a person who makes excuses for herself and for others. You get that in this book. I admit I quit reading while she was in Guatamala but I was so frustrated. There are so many possibilities for her self that she stiffles. I had been looking forward to this book.
Customer Review: I rated this book a 3 because I didn't think it was great but it is simply good. The real value in this book is the fact that we see that life should be experienced and enjoyed and not just lived. What I mean is that we have to appreciate our personal experiences without trying to over think, over... more info
Customer Review: Having read Piers Paul Read's book, "Alive", a riveting account of the 1972 plane crash in the Andes mountains in which sixteen of the forty-five aboard survived a harrowing ordeal on the mountain for nearly two and a half months, I was sufficiently intrigued to read a first person account by one of... more info
Customer Review: I appreciated the conclusions drawn by Don and Paul, but got tired listening to the long, overly descriptive narratives about the Volkswagen van. The book seemed a bit scattered and I kept thinking to myself, just get to the point. It would probably be a good read, but the narrator was boring to... more info
Customer Review: "The Travels" of Marco Polo is easily one of the most important books in Western literature. Written during the Late Middle Ages, this book has been widely read and appreciated for nearly 700 years. Yet modern readers should note that this is not a modern work meant for pure entertainment.... more info
Customer Review: Bill Bryson is the funniest travel writer working today, I believe, and even when he takes on what is an unpleasant task - visiting one of the most depressed areas of the world in order to raise funds for CARE, he does it in a hilarious way. In this short little book, Bryson not only shares... more info
Customer Review: Colin Powel is clearly a great American as exemplified among his many accomplishments and life experiences. However, this presentation of his life story is arduous and without excitement. This book often presents itself more like an encyclopedia entry than an insightful biography. While equal blame... more info
Customer Review: You know, I think I expected something more along the lines of Least Heat-Moon's Blue Highways. It pales in comparison. It has its moments but most of the time I found myself getting irritated by the guy. As a "finding yourself" autobiographical piece it will pass but just barely. I give him kudos... more info
Customer Review: I really enjoyed this book and could hardly put it down. As with some of the other reviewers, I might have preferred greater specifics about how much things were costing. But that was the only tiny complaint. I could really feel the author's humor, frustration, and passion throughout the book.... more info
