One of the problems with home-theater surround sound is finding the space to place 6 speakers in a room. It can be a challenge. Sony's HT-CT100 converts the surround experience to 3.1 channels and uses only 2 speakers, a subwoofer and a SoundBar. The SoundBar is placed like a center channel speaker directly over the TV. Speakers within the bar radiate at different angles to deliver center, left, and right channels through a spatially enhanced soundfield. With 50 Watts to each channel + 100 Watts directly to subwoofer, the system delivers 250 watts total. Featuring HDMI - Component Video - Optical A/V ports, you can connect your TV and DVD or Blu-Ray player directly to the system. It's the simplest, most streamlined way to enjoy home-theater surround. LPCM Playback - LPCM is a method of encoding audio information digitally which can have up to 8 channels of uncompressed audio. This wider bandwidth allows for high resolution audio which is closer to the original 3 Optical, 1-Coax Dolby Digital/DTS/ProLogic

Easy and great sound from inexpensive system!:
I just purchased this on "Black Friday" at another retailer for $199.00, and I am not disappointed! I purchased this system for a new house that we moved into without pre-wiring for surround and in a room that was not really a great set-up for multiple surround speakers. I was looking for something to add to my HDTV/DVD setup without breaking the bank and would give us much more sound than just the TV speakers. I have to say that I was really surpised with how much sound came from the system. I had it setup... more info
Nice alternative:
I purchased this unit to accompany a LCD flat screen that I had installed in my bedroom, after being disappointed with the sound of the television. It was easy to mount under the TV, although there was no cutout in the back of the speaker to route cables going to television. The solution to this was to mount the speaker on a 3/4 inch piece of wood (painted black)to allow the cables to route behind. This also let me hit wall studs to ensure it did not come down. The sound is SO much better than the... more info
Not bad.:
I was pretty impressed by this thing. It actually produces a pretty decent surround sound effect, with plenty of bass. It can't replace a real surround sound setup, but its way, way better than TV speakers. A couple things: 1. The volume doesn't get very high, so if your looking for a living room setup, than don't bother with this. However, it is IDEAL for a small bedroom. 2. There is no equalizer or manual adjustment of bass/treble. There are only pre-configured settings you can use, which I... more info
Sony CT-100, very happy with it !!!!!!!!!!:
I have owned more than a few full-on 5.1 systems, Onkyo, Denon, Bose, Yamaha and Samsung just to name some,, so I do know what a real system sounds like and can do.
A few years ago I got to the point were I was tired of wires and speakers all over the room so I switched to the Yamaha YSP soundbars and have since owned the YSP-800, 900, 1100 and 4000.
Then I started seeing some really great reviews of the new Sony HT CT-100 online and on AVSforum.com so I decided to pick one up and check it out.... more info
