20 Mile Range? More like 0.2 miles:
Bought a set for my two boys so we can stay in touch when they visit their friends around the neighborhood. I was expecting to get close to 20 miles range as advertised on the box but when I took it out for a range test the same day I lost signal after less than 1/2 a mile. Beyond this point all you hear is static. Ran thru various configurations on the units to ensure I'm using high-power channels and have full battery charge but it made no difference. I purchased these as a gift for my children. They range in age from 7 to 11. I got two sets, and they seem to be very happy with them. The rechargable batteries and docking station are very convenient. The functions are basic which makes them user friendly. As for the range, I'd say we got between 5 and 10 miles. We haven't pushed the limit yet. I'd recommend these for recreational use. The kids LOVE them!!
not really 20 miles range...:
That's my 3rd radio, and I bought this one for the 20 miles that was advertised, but in fact it's not real, if used in mountains and valleys the reception is clear for only 1-2 miles.
Good... But:
well, this product was good, the sound quality was good BUT the volume is toooo weak, i barely heard it in a medium noisy enviroment.
