Must be easy to use!:
We bought this for my Mother-In-Law for Christmas. She has a really hard time understanding all electronics that she needs to use and we weren't sure she would be able to use this. She has already used it many times and loves it! She figured out how to use it in about 5 minutes. She said it is great and loves all the features on it.
Rocking Roadmate!:
I got this for Xmas and am loving it! I moved from Phoenix area to Dallas area and have gotten lost even with mapquest maps, Google maps and a big Texas road atlas. This thing actually works right out of the box! The second time I used it I didn't even look at the screen (traffic) but it gave such good directions I just listened to "her". It was like having someone sit next to you and tell you where to turn. 2 minor considerations: I have a MAC, not a windooz PC so I'm not sure how that will affect... more info
waste of time and money!!:
I have heard of all kinds of good things about the GPS navigation devices..and after some research I decided to purchase the roadmate 1412. Well right out of the box the problem is that there is no owner's manual to have in your car with you..they provide a disk that has 53 pages if you would like to print out..on your ink and paper!! Also the device doesn't come with a charger for your home..must be purchased additionally! So here I am up in northern Michigan and must first print 53 pages and go to my van... more info
Excellent product, but the maps are so-so:
I researched quite a few GPS' prior to selecting this one and overall I am very pleased with it. After purchasing this one, I purchased a TomTom ONE XL 4.3-Inch for a family member and tried it out. It wasn't as easy to operate as the Magellan 1412, but what I liked better about the TomTom was that it had points of interest available that the Magellan did not. Its maps were also more updated.
