On Pocketful of Sunshine, Natasha Bedingfield sounds like Joss Stone only bouncier. Nothing wrong with that. In fact, the brightness and buoyancy of this record will keep it spinning long after CDs that shoot for hipster credibility--with funked-up bells and fancy production whistles--have been deposited back into their jewel cases for all eternity. Check it out: "Love Like This," with Sean Kingston, puts its hands in the air for puppy love--the kind that'll bring you back to your "middle school kiss"--and a couple of other songs follow the youth-themed suit. "Backyard" time-travels to an idyllic childhood, while "Freckles" fleshes out, for the benefit of the insecure, the beauty in imperfections. Elsewhere, Bedingfield is her indomitably upbeat self. Opener "Put Your Arms Around Me" reeks of reassurance and tenderness. "Happy" implores would-be gloom-and-doomers to snap out of it, and while the title track doesn't wander all that far lyrically, it benefits from a chanted verse brimmed in (positive) attitude. The vibe, overall, is beach-blanket warm and blue-sky ready. Sunshine earns a pocketful, if not more, of pop-music props. --Tammy La Gorce

glad I had a birthday:
I got this as a birthday gift and I am pleasantly surprised. I like the majority of tracks more than I expected. Good upbeat tunes!
Natasha is a Pocket Full of Sunshine:
Natasha Bedingfield's 2008 CD Pocketful of Sunshine is just that. The title song gets most of the air-play, but "Put Your Arms Around Me" is just as catchy and is, in fact, my favorite tune to hum in the car these days. The writing on this album is great; it's wonderful to find an album that you can enjoy listening to straight through!It's also a delight to find simple lyrics that you can memorize easily so that you can sing along with the songs! This CD is just as good as her previous one!

I only like 3 songs off this. I could listen to "Pocket Full of Sunshine" over and over and i was hoping there would be more songs like that. But unfortunately there are alot of those dreaded skip-overs that are just unlistenable in my oppinion. I like "put ur arms around me" and the last song comes in as a savior for a waste of an album "not givn' up". It's as if they knew and they said "man we need one more good song on here or else this is gonna tank". the song "soulmate" is ok for a ballad, I like the... more info
Sadly repetitive, yet talented:
Everyone knows and probably likes the title track. However, outside of that and possibly one or two other songs, this album is mind numbingly repetitive, as many pop singer albums are these days. Natasha has an outstanding voice and brings out her passion for music and life/love in everything she sings, but don't count on this CD/mp3/whatever to bring earth-shattering inspiration and originality to the music scene.
