I love this thing. I just had to install it and it burns DVD's flawlessly and fast, not like lightning, but really fast. I can finally watch movies from my computer on my DVD player on my big TV. It's great, and I highly recommend it.
Just plug it in and use it!:
In less than twenty minutes after it was removed from the shipping box the drive was inside my old HP desktop quietly doing its thing. Windows Me installed it immediately and there have been no problems running live CD Linux (Knoppix, Puppy, and Ubuntu). I've watched three commercial DVD movies, one home-made CD movie, and have burned over two dozen ISO Linux disks without any bad writes since it was installed a few weeks ago. Dead on Arrival:
I bought 1 of this model from Amazon.com with free super saver shipping. It wasn't the fastest way to ship but hey it's free. As soon as it arrived, I installed the unit and it didn't work. Windows XP could not detect the drive; worse, it affected the other existing drive in my PC coz even that can't be detected. I tried all the Windows tricks I know using control panel but to no avail.
