Sixteen of the best unsigned mixed martial artists compete for the ultimate prize - a six-figure contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship organization.
During the show, the competitors will take their training to a higher level. They will be brought to Las Vegas where the UFC has its National Training Center. For the next seven weeks the competitors will be under the strict supervision of two of the most successful and famous UFC fighters and trainers on the planet, UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture and UFC Light Heavyweight #1 Contender Chuck Liddell.
The competitors will endure the most grueling training and intense pressure of their lives. They will train together, live together, and fight against each other inside and outside of the storied UFC Octagon. The men are split into two teams, Team Liddell and Team Couture. The two squads compete against each other within their weight classes to avoid elimination. At the end of each week, one fighter from each team must fight in the Octagon to avoid being kicked out of the UFC Training Center until only two remain in each weight division. In the end, The Ultimate Fighter will be decided by a competition match -- a head-to-head fight to the finish inside the Octagon.

A decent start to the now popular series:
This DVD for sure gets 5 stars because it is a well-packaged/designed box set and it was full of then-unknowns that have now become the faces of MMA fighting. It was great to see the struggles of a professional fighter in this sport (and boy do some have it hard) and also to see how much someone can improve in a sport. This series has it all, from cast backstories worked into... more info
Was Ok, final missing..:
Disk 2 had some bad spots, 2 episodes were unwatchable. I am also sort of confused. Mine came with 12 episodes (3 disks) and no Final fight. Is that a separate buy? Some of the posts sound like the final fight was in theirs and they had 4 disks...did I get robbed or are the final fights separate buys?
not "old school UFC" as someone said on here, but well done:
First of all, the UFC has been around for a long time. I know alot of people didnt jump on the "bandwagon" until they made a reality show, and thats fine, it was underground and many didnt know it even existed. This, however is not old school. Check out UFC 1 to see old school. No weight classes, just show up and fight. The names Gracie, Shamrock, Severn, Frey, Kimo....thats old school, not Lidell and Coutoure. Now, on to the dvd. Im not a big fan of reality tv, but UFC did a great job on the show. Its... more info
