Well worth the money!:
I couldn't be happier with this speaker package. I can't believe I didn't get surround sound sooner, now I want to watch some movies all over again just for the sound. The sound is rich and in my opinion get's the job done. I can't imagine what the other, $300 dollar rear speakers, or $200 center channel speaker, do differently. I didn't want to spend ~$500 dollars just on three speakers when you can buy an entire 7.1 system with a receiver for that much. This here is just a sweet, sweet, deal.
Center is fine, as for the rear surrounds...:
The center channel is very good for the package price; produces more than adequate vocals. Rear surround's sound great too...until you want to pump the volume up on that favorite action scene. In my mid-size living room (20x14), they begin to destort at VERY modest levels. If you want the house-shaking, window-rattling theater experience, better get something a little bigger.
Bought the Sony SS-CR3000's:
I think I was a little naive prior to this purchase on what I was actually buying. I have since connected the speakers and find they do enhance the overall sound quality of DVD's and TV. The speakers are driven by a Sony STR-DG910; 7.1. I am running some JBL book shelf speakers for the fronts for now. The overall volume is not as loud as I thought it would be. To complete this set up I plan to up the speaker wire size from 18ga to something 14ga or larger. Also plan to add a sub-woofer and maybe some... more info
Good value for the money:
There probably are better surround-sound speakers out there, but for 100 bucks, what's not to like? The center channel speaker works very well and the surround speakers hang nicely on the wall (speaker wire included, too. Not monster cable, but it'll do for the time being). Overall, a good deal.
