New from Krups, the KB720 blender. The Krups Motor Technik is a unique electronic motor control system that provides constant power and speed whatever the load, ensuring consistent, professional results and allowing intensive heavy-duty use. Unloaded, most kitchen machines have high rotation speed. When a blender is loaded with ingredients, the rpm level drops dramatically, decreasing the rotation speed and effecting performance results. Thanks to the Krups Motor Technik, the motor remains at a constant speed whatever the load. The Krups Motor Technik also means controlled rpm's, which means much less noise. Most blenders are more than twice as loud as the KB720. With 1,000 watts of power, the 60-ounce-capacity blender has 5 speeds; ice-crushing and pulse functions; a heavy-duty die-cast metal base for stability and durability; an easily removable cap with 1- and 2-ounce measure marks; a bi-injected waterproof locking lid for clean preparation; and an illuminated, intuitive, easy-to-see and easy-to-use touchpad control panel. Graphite grey and brushed stainless steel, the blender comes with a full-color recipe book with more than 50 recipes.

Greatest Blender... Ever.:
This is actually the second KB720 that my wife and I have owned. We purchased the previous one over 3 years ago, and only bought the new one because we dropped and broke the jar from the first. That being said, we are still using the original base and after over 3 years of almost daily use and abuse, it is still going strong. (we are saving the new base for whenever the original dies.) This blender is great for making smoothies, as frozen fruit is no match for its powerful motor. We have killed most of... more info
Makes perfect smoothies. Crushes ice and frozen fruit. Quiet. Easy to clean.:
This is by far the best blender I've ever owned. I use it mostly to make smoothies from frozen fruit and yogurt. Don't just dump everything in at once, or you will have the problem that another poster complained about -- it will stir, not blend. Just add your yogurt or whatever liquid base in first and then add the frozen parts gradually through the hopper, stopping and using the ice crushing function between each frozen fruit piece, working your way up to higher speeds. I use very little liquid because I... more info
Died After Two Years:
I bought the blender (from a national retail chain and not Amazon) in June 2008 because it seemed sturdy, powerful, and rugged. Unfortunately, this attractive $150 blender turned out to be none of these. I used it infrequently (e.g., once every 3-4 weeks during Spring and Summer) and almost exclusively to mix up margaritas or pina coladas. It never worked correctly. First, it emitted a burning electronics-type smell during every use. Second, it would shut down after blending for 60-90 seconds (unplugging it... more info
Don't Buy!:
I read all the reviews and continued to buy this blender because I wanted something quiet. As stated in the other reviews, it doesn't blend smoothies very well and after just one month of owning, the motor died. Not worth your money!
