Krups high-speed quartz heating system takes masterful control of heat in the chamber. Each set of quartz heating element, both top and bottom, is alternately powered at the full 1600 watts to maximize the effect of radiant heat. The heat distribution is aided by a special reflective crumb tray that directs this important form of heat to all corners for excellent results. Convection heat, important for longer baking times, circulates heated air around the food for the best result in the fastest time. The defrost function uses the convection fan only and gently and evenly defrosts food without producing hot spots. This 6-slice toaster oven has temperature controls in 25 degree increments from 150-450 degrees, a digital timer from 1 minute to 90 minutes and an auto shut off after elapsed time. For toasting, it has 9 levels or browning with a countdown timer. Illuminated LCD control panel with easy to use controls and high quality soft touch buttons, it has a digital clock that displays when the cooking functions are not in use. The non-stick interior surface is durable and easy to clean. This unit includes a non-stick bake pan, broiling tray and thermal resistant tongs for safe removal of hot pans or food and comes with a 1-year warranty.

Krups Toaster total failure out of box:
Beware. I bought this unit and out of the box it locked up and would not shut off. Total fire hazard. I agree with most of the other reviews. This unit looks nice and looks well built but it's junk. I usually don't take the time to write reviews but I felt cheated on this because it fails in favor of burning down someones house if there not careful.
Top heating elements burn food, beeping alarm wakes the house!:
While this toaster oven does fine with toast and quick snacks, it's got two fatal flaws. The first is that the top and bottom heating elements cycle back and forth. If you've got anything in the oven taller than a pizza roll, the top element is going to toast it to a crisp. The second flaw: the thing beeps three times when you press the "Stop" button and *five* times when the timer runs out by itself. Why is that so bad? Well, it is once you know that you can hear those beeps in your backyard or down the... more info
Bad choice:
I bought this small oven 1 1/2 year ago, because hightly recommanded by AMT. We are only two adults using it. At first, the oven worked well, but two months ago the door had to be replaced because it was not closing properly (60$ to repair) and now the digital display is also broken and it is expensive to replace. My son has a similar oven by Cuisinart for over 5 years now and it is reliable and without any repair so far. I should have picked the Cuisinart model instead.
Door hinge will break, it is just a matter of time:
Purchased this relatively expensive unit with high hopes. Looks nice, toasts well, nice convection oven. If you are looking for a reliable toaster oven however, look elsewhere. The door hinge on this unit is VERY poorly designed. It broke within a year and a half of purchase, which resulted in a trip to the repair shop and an $80 repair bill. A year and half later the new door hinge broke as well. A problem peculiar to my toaster oven you say? Simply search the web for "KRUPS toaster oven door hinge" and... more info
